The St. John’s based team of Brad Gushue (skip), Mark Nichols (third), Brett Gallant (second), and Geoff Walker (lead) captured the 2014 Masters Grand Slam of Curling in Selkirk, Manitoba on Sunday.  The Gushue rink defeated Mark McEwen of Winnipeg by a score of 8-6 in 8 ends.

This win was the first of the season for Gushue’s rink and it also marks the first win since the skip reunited with long time teammate Mark Nichols who played with Jeff Stoughton’s Manitoba based team for the past two years.  It also moves Team Gushue into 3rd place in the World Curling Tour’s Order of Merit, trailing only Brad Jacobs and McEwen.

According to the Team Gushue website, the team will take the ice again on November 19th for The National in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
